five nights at freddy's is the first installment in Scott Cawthon's indie point-and-click survival horror video game series. It was first available on Desura on August 8, 2014 (though it was later removed at an unknown date), and then on Steam on August 18, 2014. The player's goal is to survive five nights at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza without being caught, stuffed into a mascot costume, and thus killed by the animatronic characters; this is accomplished by tracking their movements using the restaurant's security cameras.

As soon as you start up Identity V on your personal computer, you'll become aware of the sinister atmosphere of the game. Once the investigator character in this game obtains his letter and begins investigating the run-down house, the adventure proper can be considered to have begun. It's amazing how a simple point-and-click game like Five Nights at Freddy's could spawn such a massive franchise! The tension of managing those security cameras and desperately trying to avoid the animatronics was truly innovative back then.
